Use word clouds such as Word Cloud, Cloudart, TagCloud, or WordPack. Copy and paste a list of analogies into the word cloud app and then use as a matching activity for analogies. Or use a Word Cloud to summarize text visually after you copy the text into the app. Students can get the "gist" of the text prior to reading. Great way to introduce a reading assignment too, or to compare two pieces of text.
Use Pic Collage (iPad) to create a collage of two or more objects, characters, places, animals, etc. Then, use Thinglink (iPad or web) to create interactive images with links to text boxes (details) or even external links or more images.
Use a comic book app to create a comic strip that adds captions to pictures that provide descriptions, quotes or other content. Have students describe content, analyze characters, defend an opinion, speak in another language...the possibilities are endless! This is an example of the Tellagami app.
